Average high temp is in July at about 85 degrees. The average low is about 23 degrees in January.

If you are looking for the current temp, we have that posted at the top right corner of this page.

The lake is always 52 degrees – so it never freezes. Sorry, no ice skating there. But, since it does not freeze, Santa can always row to the Gazebo.

How to reserve the Gazebo at the Children’s Lake:

This information was sent to us after quite a few inquiries to our website about use of the Gazebo.

“Use of the gazebo at Children’s Lake is administered by the National Park Service, but we can take care of the administrative logistics for you.

Basically, the process goes like this: we review the conditions of use, you apply for a special use permit which costs $50, we review the application and resolve any questions, and you get a special use permit. Feel free to give us a call.”

Office Manager

Many people have used the gazebo for their weddings, senior photos and other memorable moments. If you only plan to use the gazebo in passing, like your senior photos, there is no need to reserve the gazebo. However, if you want the private use of the gazebo for a ceremony or gathering – this is where you need to contact the ATC for use and permission.

I got an email from a possible tourist asking about visiting our town in May or June along with a toddler and a fisherman. Here is my reply to her – and I invite you, our community and past Boiling Springs visitors, to add your suggestions to the comments as well! Thanks.

May and June can be hit or miss. May is definitely nice, cool (not cold)… very spring like normally. June is different – sometimes it is hot, last year was cold and rainy. Can’t predict that one.

The pool opens on Memorial Day weekend and is only open on weekends until school lets out (around the 10th of June)

Boiling Springs, at the Yellow Breeches, is one of the best fly fishing areas in the country. There is an anglers shop (Yellow Breeches Outfitters) at one end of the Children’s Lake and they probably have more information.

Allenberry is 1/4 mile from the Lake. In addition to Allenberry there are 2 more B&B’s right on Front Street, the Garmanhaus and Gelina’s Manor.

I don’t know of many great things for a toddler to do in Boiling Springs, since the fishing really lends itself to an older tourist population. The pool is nice – but he probably can’t ride the slides, so you are limited.

Hershey and Dutch Wonderland are about 45 minutes away. Dutch Wonderland would be great for him – I am sure. Watch the schedule for open dates and times. May is tricky.

Hershey Park may or may not be too old for him. They have kids rides and there is a waterpark section as well that he may be able to use, but for the price – I have to feel that the older the better.

As far as restaurants, Allenberry has two, the Boiling Springs Tavern is right across from the lake (fine dining, dinners at around $20), and Anile’s is a Italian pizza/sub shop – really great food there as well.

Other than that – Boiling Springs is small, quaint, quiet, nice scenery, but not so much the ‘place to be for exciting things’… not to knock the town – but exciting is not the key. Quiet and relaxing is more the pace.

You can also check with the Cumberland Valley visitors bureau (and their site for more ideas around the whole Cumberland County)

Welcome to the picturesque village of Boiling Springs. Beautiful scenery, fly fishing, the oldest public pool in Cumberland County, quaint Bed & Breakfasts, plus theatre and local events. Founded in 1845*, but settled prior to 1737, Boiling Springs is a village that surrounds the Children’s Lake, right on the Appalachian Trail. The Memorial Clock Tower, erected in 1956 and the Boiling Springs (Grist) Mill, on record as early as 1785, are two landmarks in the village. The mill is one of, if not the most photographed building in the village.

Boiling Springs was also a site for the underground railroad before the civil war, a tourist destination in the early 1900′s, a stop along the Appalachian Trail. Now a location for small shops, art galleries, cafe’s and restaurants, recreation and relaxation. Boiling Springs is a fantastic community of individuals that are inspired to create that small town feel and share it with anyone who visits.

The village of Boiling Springs is located in South Middleton Township (township population 15,000 projected for 2010, I don’t have statistics for the village population). The population of Cumberland County is approximately 215,000 (est 2000)

If you are around in the summertime, be sure to stop by the Boiling Springs Pool and say hello. My name is Tom and I run this site and the pool for the community.

Do you want your buisiness or organization listed on BoilingSprings.org? Well, that is not too hard – and really cheap – as in the FREE variety.

A couple of things:

Your business or organization must be physically located in Boiling Springs, PA.

You need to provide me the details and photos for the article – write most of it if you can, or I may butcher the article.

Post your information in the comment section below – and I will get it, review it, and get in touch if I need to – so make sure your email address is right.

Things that should be included are:

Business Name
Address(es)
Phone Number(s)
Hours

Description of the business, whether it is a marketing slug or the basics of the services and products you provide.

Lastly- do you have a picture? That really makes the article ‘pop’!

Are you trying to find out some information and haven’t had any luck? Here are some suggestions:

Try using the search field (at the top, on the left), by entering a keyword or two. This will give you a list of results that match your search. Too many results? Add another keyword. No results? Take away a keyword.
