CHILDREN’S LAKE TO BE DRAWN DOWN

Boiling Springs, PA – The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission will begin lowering the water level at Children’s Lake in Cumberland County on October 1. The water level will be drawn down 3 feet to allow a weir to be constructed in the old mill race. The mill race is located on the southwest end of the lake below the arched bridge. While the lake is lowered, additional grounds improvements will be completed.

Historic structures from the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, such as a gristmill, still line the lakeshore. The Lake and its surrounding lands provide fishing, boating, hiking and other recreational opportunities to visitors and local residents.

  1. I was down by that end of the lake on Wednesday and the weir looks pretty good.

I am not too sure about the design – and whether it will flow over the weir and at what rate – but it will be interesting to see the finished product (with a full lake) again.
